Here's a great place to browse for our answers to commonly asked questions.

How do you treat sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin needs special care. Most important is to understand the underlying causes and assess the skin's needs. Sensitive skin can react to certain ingredients and must be treated gently and with great care. Also notable is that sensitive skin is different from sensitized skin -- skin that has been damaged, compromised, over-exposed (to wind, heat, sun, radiation, certain medications) or is suffering a reaction such as eczema, rosacea or allergic contact dermatitis. How do I treat it? First, I ask questions to learn what you know. Then I provide treatments that will soothe, heal and moisturize without irritation choosing products with gentle, fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic ingredients, paying particular attention to bolstering your skin's barrier function.

What do I wear to my appointment?

Come as you are. If you're wearing makeup, no problem -- I'll remove it for you. Most facials are performed with you tucked between the sheets, so prepare to disrobe to your comfort level. Waxing can be performed with you fully clothed if the parts being waxed are exposed or you will partially undress and I will use draping to help keep you comfortable.

Can I bring my dog?

No, sorry. I work hard to keep the studio free of allergens out of consideration for everyone's best health.

Do you do microneedling?

No, sorry. In the State of California, it is illegal for a licensed esthetician to perform this service.

When should I avoid having certain treatments?

If you are pregnant, have a sunburn, have been undergoing chemo- or radiation therapy or are taking Accutane -- PLEASE let me know when you complete your pre-appointment intake form. It is very likely that you can receive some or even most treatments, however, abundant care must be taken to ensure that you are not exposed to certain ingredients and modalities as severe reactions can occur. If you have any other condition or circumstance that concerns you, please tell me and we'll decide together whether it's appropriate for me to treat you.

What can I do about my acne?

Ah acne. I'm happy to consult with you free of charge to assess your situation and determine a healthy course of action. An appropriate home care regimen is critical, yet oftentimes there are other factors to consider that must be addressed. Let's clear things up together!

I'm on a fixed income and have a tight budget, but would really love a facial. Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes, I have a number of clients whom I offer special pricing. Let's talk.

I'd like to know more about other topics you haven't mentioned here.
